TateShots: Howard Hodgkin by Tate

TateShots: Howard Hodgkin

'If I couldn't paint any more, I think I'd be measured for my coffin'. Howard Hodgkin explains how at the age of 82, he feels he's painting better than ever. Widely regarded as one of the most important British living painters, Howard Hodgkin discusses his 'pictures of emotional situations' including Clean Sheets 1979–84. As well as explaining his resistance to discussing his subject matter, he explores how the pictures have personal meaning for him, and how they might affect those who see them.
