Artist Behind Mysterious Stone BMW Z4 Is Identified

CHANG The artist Jeff Koons may have manufactured a splash of public relations when he unveiled his BMW Art Car last month, but another BMW art project has recently garnered 15 minutes in the spotlight, appearing in newspapers and blogs, though not because of marketing or propaganda. And until now, the artist had remained a bit of a mystery. The sculpture, a BMW Z4 made of stone, was spotted in Beijing by Eric Brum, according to the blog Axis of Oversteer. Mr. Brum was awed by the piece and snapped several photos, showing the degree of detail that went into replicating the BMW roadster. "In addition to an exterior made of stone and mortar chiseled to the M Coupe dimensions, it also had a complete interior made of formed cement and glass door windows, windshield and rear window," Mr. Brum, a 32-year-old veterinarian, told The Telegraph, which picked up on the story, as did dozens of enthusiast blogs. None of the blogs (or newspapers) I checked out, however, were able to identify the artist, whose name turned up in a rather lengthy Flickr search. And no, you haven't heard of him....
